Match Schedule For FIFA World Cup Finals

The countdown to the 2010 FIFA World Cup Finals in South Africa has been ticking away - and there are 154 days to go as I write.

While we are all waiting for the kick-off on Friday, June 11, soccer aficionados might want to check out the schedule here at Soccer 365. Click here for the official FIFA World Cup schedule.

There will be 63 matches involving 32 teams.

As the host nation, South Africa will kick off the tournament in the opener against Mexico in Johannesburg's Soccer City Stadium, one of two stadiums in the city earmarked for World Cup matches.

Both teams are in Group A which includes France and Uruguay.

Soccer City Stadium, which was built in 1987, has a capacity of 94,700. According to the website WorldCup2010SouthAfrica.com, it is the country's crown jewel in a city that's regarded as a "financial juggernaut on the African continent."

The other stadium is Ellis Park which was built in 1982. The stadium has been renovated to increase its capacity to 60,000.

Other World Cup host cities are Cape Town, Durban, Nelspruit, Rustenburg, Pretoria, Polokwane, Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein.
